September 25-27, 2017
Coordinator: Judy Hakanson Smith, Deacon & Calumet Staff
This fall retreat, now called "Retired/Newly/Nearly Retired Rostered Leaders and Spouses Fall Retreat", is an opportunity for the New England Synod’s retired pastors & deacons and their spouses (and those who are nearing retirement or even thinking about retirement!) to come together in fellowship during the beautiful fall month of September....and a chance to get away to beautiful Camp Calumet for a few days where meals are deliciously prepared and absolutely no dishes to wash at all!
For those interested in a book discussion, we invite you to take a look at the book "The Gift of Years" by Joan Chittister. Not only accepting but celebrating getting old, this inspirational and illuminating work looks at the many facets of the aging process, from purposes and challenges to struggles and surprises.
Publisher's Weekly says: This collection of inspiratonal reflections, "Not meant to be read in one sitting, or even in order, but one topic at a time," abounds in gentle insights and arresting aphorisms: "'Act your age' can be useful advice when you're seventeen; it's a mistake when you're sevety-seven."
All rostered leaders & spouses, retired, nearly retired or not yet retired are welcome to attend this fall retreat. Opportunities for book chats, pontoon boat rides on beautiful Ossipee Lake, swimming and kayaking, walks along the beach and trails, hymn sings, and gentle yoga all will be available. Rates include all meals and two nights lodging.
