Adventure Camps at Calumet are great. These are sort of a cousin of Resident Camp for Kids. Campers register for these camps using the regular online registration option. Typically, there are 8 campers and 2 staff persons who share in a week long experience. An Adventure Camp might include a canoe trip overnight, a multi-night hike into the White Mountains, a bunch of day trips to a local trail, some biking, and/or a rock climbing adventure. Calumet's Adventure Camp staff members take a full Wilderness First Responders course and are very comfortable leading groups in the great outdoors.
The Adventure Camp Program offerings for the Summer of 2017 include:
DAY TRIPS (July 2 - July 8): Leave Calumet each morning to go on a local canoe trip, hiking outing, or rock climbing adventure. Return to Calumet each night to stay in our rustic Wild Barn, and take part in our exciting evening program activities.
BEGINNER BASICS (July 9 - July 15): New to camping? Take part in this program to learn the basics of camping such as building a fire, picking a campsite, locating a clean water source, map reading, and much more. This program will feature day trip adventures all week, culminating in an overnight on the final night.
EXTREME ADVENTURE (August 6 - August 12): Already know the ropes of camping out in the wilderness? Want to put your skills to the test? Then take part in this program that will feature multi-day, multi-discipline trips.
